An official from the Delhi Police senior management has requested social media platforms and Telegram to provide information regarding the specific channel where the post was published.
A different official, who is knowledgeable about the particulars, dismissed any connection between the explosion and a terrorist group.
Officials with knowledge of the matter stated that Delhi Police has reached out to the social media platform Telegram, requesting details about the account responsible for sharing a post related to the recent explosion at CRPF School in Rohini, Delhi, which occurred on Sunday.
The request for channel information where the post originated has been directed to social media platforms and Telegram by a high-ranking official from the Delhi Police.
The officer, who preferred to remain anonymous, mentioned that despite a post on Telegram suggesting the explosion was a retaliation for alleged targeting of pro-Khalistan separatists by Indian agents, there is a lack of concrete evidence linking any terrorist group to Sunday’s blast. The investigation remains ongoing, and it is premature to confirm or deny any connections to Khalistani groups.
The officer also mentioned that the investigators have requested the Telegram channel to furnish comprehensive information regarding the profile known as ‘Justice League India’.
He further mentioned that no response had been received as of yet.
Following almost ten hours, the explosion occurred at the school on Sunday morning. Subsequently, a video of the blast surfaced on the Telegram channel, adorned with a ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ watermark at the base, accompanied by a message.
Another official briefed on the matter dismissed the possibility of the explosion being connected to any terrorist group.
He mentioned that crucial information has been obtained in this matter, and efforts are being made towards it. No individual or organization can be held accountable until the investigation is concluded.
The arresting of suspects who are believed to have planted the homemade explosive containing ammonia and phosphate, as well as leaving behind a gunny bag and wires at the scene, is nearing completion, according to the officer.
At about 7:47 am, an explosion took place, causing damage to the school’s perimeter wall and breaking the windows of surrounding shops and vehicles. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were recorded as a result of the incident.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini), Amit Goel, reported that upon the arrival of the local police at the scene, they discovered a damaged boundary wall of the school emitting a foul smell. Additionally, the windows and glass panes of nearby shops and parked cars were found to be vandalized.
The incident is being investigated by various authorities, such as the special cell of the Delhi Police, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the National Security Guard (NSG), and forensic teams.
The statement made by a senior officer in the forensic science lab revealed that upon the initial examination of the samples, it was determined that the suspect employed a DIY explosive comprised of ammonia and phosphate, resembling a basic improvised bomb.
A primitive explosive device, as described by the specialized unit, is considered a low-grade bomb capable of inflicting mild to moderate harm due to its potential composition of substances like peroxide, nitrates, and ammonia.
It was compared by law enforcement to a large firework.
During the current festive season, authorities have stated that Delhi Police, in collaboration with other central agencies, are maintaining a heightened state of vigilance in the national capital.
A senior police official from the police headquarters, speaking on the condition of anonymity, revealed that specific locations with high foot traffic or of special sensitivity have been identified. These areas encompass Lutyens Delhi, government buildings, shopping centers, and other similar sites. In response, there has been a bolstering of deployment, with district officers instructed to mobilize patrols to prevent any law-breaking activities by individuals with malicious intent.
A case has been filed at the Prashant Vihar police station by the authorities citing the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, Explosives Act, and pertinent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita (BNS). The case was initiated following a sub-inspector’s report, prompted by a PCR call regarding the explosion.
