The National Education Policy 2020 recommended the creation of guidelines by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
Guidelines for the adoption of 10 bagless days in both government and private schools in Delhi were released by the Directorate of Education on Tuesday. As per the circular, all school principals were instructed by the DoE to observe 10 bagless days for students in grades six to eight.
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has formulated these guidelines in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020. The objective is to transform the school learning environment into one that is experiential, joyful, and free of stress for students, as stated in the circular.
The Directorate of Education suggested that activities could be thoughtfully selected to maximize the school’s resources. They recommended incorporating bagless activities, such as those carried out during the implementation of the Happiness Curriculum or on excursion visits, into bagless days.
According to the guidelines, students have the opportunity to explore historical landmarks, cultural destinations, artisan workshops, tourist attractions, and various other places. Interactions with artists and craftsmen allow them to expand their knowledge of diverse concepts and customs, fostering an increased awareness of the significance of heritage conservation.
