Two women have been released by the police, with one remaining hospitalized but in stable condition.
The police reported that a student from Lady Hardinge College and two of her companions were injured when the car they were traveling in collided with a divider and burst into flames.
Near the Sushruta Trauma Centre is where the incident occurred, according to the police, who mentioned that both the owner and the driver of the car are currently on the run.
Police received a PCR call at 7:38 am reporting a Kia Carens car engulfed in flames in Civil Lines.
DCP (North) Raja Banthia mentioned that a group consisting of a 22-year-old student from Lady Hardinge College along with two female friends and a male companion were on their way to Civil Lines in a car. The 22-year-old owner of the vehicle was behind the wheel when he collided with the divider close to the Trauma Centre. Subsequently, he absconded from the accident site, leaving the three women inside the car. Following the incident, the women were swiftly transported to Sushruta Trauma Centre. It was reported that the car burst into flames after the women were rescued from it.
As per authorities, two women have been released from the hospital, while one remains hospitalized but is in stable condition.
Police reported that the driver, who is a student at Delhi University, has gone missing, and efforts are underway to locate him.
Police have stated that a man has been charged at Civil Lines police station under sections 281 for rash driving and 125 (a) for endangering life of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
