Live Update on Florida’s 2024 US Presidential Election Results: Trump, a Florida resident, received backing from the state’s Republican governor, Ron DeSantis.

In the 2024 Florida Presidential Election, Donald Trump emerged victorious according to various news outlets, including the Associated Press. Trump clinched all 30 Electoral College votes from Florida, underscoring his stronghold in the state. Having won Florida in the 2020 election with 51% of the vote against Joe Biden’s 48%, and in 2016 with 49% over Hillary Clinton’s 48%, Trump’s triumph in the state showcases its increasing Republican tilt in recent years. Florida, once a pivotal swing state, witnessed reduced contention in this election cycle. Trump, a resident of Florida, enjoyed the backing of the state’s Republican governor, Ron DeSantis.

Trump has managed to solidify his support in Republican strongholds, and interestingly, he has also achieved progress in the crucial battleground areas of Florida. Surpassing Vice President Kamala Harris in regions that typically favor the Democratic party, he secured an 11-percentage point lead over her as 80% of the anticipated votes were tallied, ultimately prompting the AP to declare him as the winner of the race.

In a twist of events, Miami-Dade County, typically a Democratic stronghold, saw a surprising turn as Trump succeeded in flipping it. Despite Biden securing a 7-point victory in 2020, Trump’s triumph this time around signified a notable shift that struck a blow to the Democrats.

At the time the race was called, Harris would have required 73% of the outstanding votes to reach Trump, which seemed nearly unattainable with over 81% of the votes already counted.

Among those vying for the presidential position were Vice President Kamala Harris representing the Democrats, Donald Trump from the Republican party, Claudia De la Cruz standing for Socialism and Liberation, Chase Oliver as the Libertarian candidate, Peter Sonski representing American Solidarity, Jill Stein from the Green party, and Randall Terry representing the Constitution party.
