Anil Vij, who previously oversaw the Home portfolio during Manohar Lal Khattar’s tenure as Chief Minister, has now assumed responsibility for the Labour Department, alongside Energy and Transport.
After the swearing-in of a fresh government in the State, portfolios were distributed to the Council of Ministers on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Haryana’s Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini retained crucial departments like Home and Finance, whereas Anil Vij was assigned Energy and Transport responsibilities.
Mr. Saini is responsible for overseeing 12 portfolios, which include Home, Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation, Town and Country Planning, Urban Estates, Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture, Criminal Investigation, Law, Legislative, and Housing across various departments.
Mr. Vij, formerly responsible for the Home portfolio during Manohar Lal Khattar’s tenure as Chief Minister, has now been entrusted with overseeing not only Energy and Transport but also the Labour Department.
A government order released late in the night has reassigned the Health Department from Mr. Vij, who managed it during the Khattar administration, to Arti Singh Rao. Additionally, Arti Singh Rao will oversee the medical education and research as well as the Ayush departments.
In a grand ceremony held in Panchkula, Mr. Saini, aged 54, was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Haryana on Thursday. The event witnessed the presence of numerous NDA leaders, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi among them, along with thousands of attendees from various parts of the State.
13 MLAs, among them two women, were sworn in in addition to him.
Mahipal Dhanda has been assigned the School Education Department, whereas Rao Narbir Singh has been allocated the Industries and Commerce, Environment, Forests, and Wildlife departments.
Arvind Sharma is set to take charge of the jails and cooperation portfolios, while Vipul Goel has been assigned responsibilities for the Revenue and Disaster Management, Urban Local Bodies, and Civil Aviation departments.
Shyam Singh Rana is set to oversee the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, with Ranbir Gangwa managing Public Health Engineering. Krishan Kumar Bedi will be in charge of the Social Justice, Empowerment, and SCs and BCs welfare departments, while Shruti Choudhry takes on the Women and Child Development portfolio.
Krishan Lal Panwar has been assigned responsibilities for the Development and Panchayats, as well as the Mines and Geology portfolios, along with several other Ministers.
Rajesh Nagar, the Minister of State (Independent Charge), has been assigned the portfolio of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs. Gaurav Gautam, another Minister of State (Independent Charge), will oversee the Youth Empowerment, Entrepreneurship, and Sports departments.
According to the directive, the portfolios have been assigned to the members of the Council of Ministers by the Governor of Haryana following the Chief Minister’s recommendation.
