Announcement from the BCCI revealed that a total of 1574 players are set to participate in the IPL 2025 Player Auction scheduled to take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Among the 1574 contenders competing for 204 positions within each team’s roster of 25 players, 1,165 hail from India, with the remaining 409 being international players.
Among the players up for grabs at the IPL auction are 320 with capped experience, 1,224 without caps, and a contingent of 30 from Associate Nations.
Following the conclusion of the recent IPL retention window, a grand total of 46 players were retained across the 10 IPL franchises, with a combined investment of Rs 558.5 crore made by these teams.
[My Rewrite]: In the latest IPL retention process, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals, the defending and IPL-1 champions respectively, decided to retain a complete set of six players. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad opted for keeping five players each.
Heading into the much-anticipated mega auction, Punjab Kings stand out with the largest purse of Rs 110.5 crore, while Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Punjab Kings have retained two, three, and four players, respectively.
