Dr. Lois Marandi, Kunal Sarangi, and Ganesh Mahali, ex-BJP members, recently shifted their allegiance to the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha ahead of the state assembly polls. Marandi was disappointed by the BJP’s choice not to field her from Dumka, and Sarangi raised concerns about the party’s selection process for promotions.

In preparation for the imminent state assembly elections in Jharkhand, Dr. Lois Marandi, Kunal Sarangi, and Ganesh Mahali, former BJP members, officially became part of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Monday. They had a meeting with CM Hemant Soren and his wife Kalpana Soren.

Dr. Loise Marandi, who previously held the position of Vice President in the BJP in her state, made a significant decision to switch to Hemant Soren’s party. This move came after she was refused a ticket to run from her hometown of Dumka and was instead urged to run in the election from Bahrai. On the other hand, Kunal Sarangi highlighted his challenges in securing a promotion as a key factor prompting his departure from the BJP.

Dr. Lois Marandi expressed her dilemma regarding contesting the election from Barhait, stating that she had dedicated 24 years to Dumka and lacked knowledge about Barhait. Despite her reluctance, the party fielded another candidate from Dumka. Seeking a platform to serve the people, Dr. Marandi discussed the matter with CM Hemant Soren, who extended a warm welcome, as reported by ANI.

Dr. Lois Marandi expressed her disappointment towards the saffron party for not being granted the Dumka constituency. She stated, “I dedicated a significant amount of time to the party (BJP), tirelessly working day and night for the welfare of the people, faithfully following every directive given by the party. However, during the elections, I was instructed to contest from Barhait.

One can allegedly secure advancement within the BJP if equipped with a portfolio of ‘corruption credentials,’ according to Sarangi.

Kunal Sarangi, a former member of the BJP, decided to switch to the JMM party due to the lack of growth and performance opportunities within the BJP. Speaking to ANI, Sarangi expressed his return to the JMM, citing his disillusionment with the BJP’s issues of ‘corruption and sycophancy’.

ANI quoted Sarangi as expressing his return to his family, highlighting the significance of the platform provided by CM Hemant Soren for his entry into Jharkhand politics and public service. Despite his stint with BJP where he aspired to serve on a national level, he found the focus to be solely on performing ‘Ganesh parikramas’ and displaying sycophantic behaviors rather than addressing the needs of the people. Sarangi emphasized the importance of integrity over mere token gestures and insinuated the prevalence of corruption within the system.

In the past four and a half years, I have gained valuable insights during my time with the party, and I am delighted to have come back to the place where my political journey began,” he remarked.
