OnePlus has long been renowned for its OxygenOS, a key selling feature. Recently, on Thursday, the company unveiled the freshest release – OxygenOS 15, built upon the foundation of Android 15.
The OxygenOS 15, which is derived from ColorOS 15, brings a touch of excitement to the perceived bland Android 15, promising a seamless user experience free from unnecessary bloatware.
Arthur Lam, Director of OxygenOS Product, expresses the intention behind OxygenOS 15, which strives to resonate with users by incorporating sophisticated AI capabilities and a distinctive design co-created with them. This launch establishes a fresh benchmark for software efficiency and effectiveness.
The rollout of OxygenOS 15, commencing on October 30, marks the debut of the software update on the OnePlus 12 (review). Subsequently, other compatible OnePlus smartphones and tablets will receive the latest operating system update in the following months.
OnePlus has dubbed OxygenOS 15 as the fusion of speed and AI, highlighting its enhanced parallel processing for animations and a plethora of new AI functionalities integrated into OxygenOS 15. Tasks such as opening and closing apps, as well as UI and UX modifications, will exhibit significantly improved fluidity, even during multitasking sessions.
OnePlus has overhauled numerous UI components in OxygenOS 15, presenting a meticulously customizable lock screen reminiscent of HyperOS and iOS 18. Branded as OnePlus OneTake, it delivers enhanced customization options featuring diverse widgets and fonts.
Incorporated in OxygenOS 15 are fresh customizable widgets for the home screen and an upgraded multitasking function known as OnePlus Canvas. This feature empowers users to operate various applications either in a split-window format or as a floating window.
OnePlus is unveiling fresh AI functionalities with the addition of three new features for photo and image editing – AI Unblur, AI Detail Boost, and AI Reflection Eraser. Furthermore, the Notes app is set to receive an array of advanced AI writing tools aimed at enhancing, summarizing, and refining text. Additionally, OnePlus is set to roll out a novel on-device search feature supported by AI, enabling users to swiftly locate specific files right from the app tray within seconds.
OnePlus labels OxygenOS 15 as “minimalistic” despite its array of new functionalities, boasting a reduced footprint on the soon-to-be-released OnePlus 13 in China on October 31.
Certain features may be unavailable on older or lower-tier OnePlus devices because of hardware constraints. Users with a OnePlus 12 or OnePlus 11 model can enjoy the full OxygenOS 15 experience.
