Actor Tusshar Kapoor recently discussed his acting journey and how he manages the pressure of being a star kid. Currently, busy promoting his latest series Dus June Kii Raat, Kapoor opened up about the ups and downs of his acting career in a recent interview.

Tusshar argued that it’s actually much more difficult for an insider to sustain a career in Bollywood after making their debut with the help of a film family.

Speaking to the Indian Express, he explained, “When you are somebody’s son or daughter, then you better be strong and tough.

No matter how many hits you give, there is an effort to pull you down or try to highlight what you haven’t done more than what you have done.

If you are not from the film world, even with very little achievement, people say ‘Wow, what have you done!”

Tusshar, who made his Bollywood debut with the film Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai in 2001, added, “Getting a break is probably easier for film people because of the connections, but after that it’s about your own connections, how you make the movie, how you are on the screen, and what your marketability is. It’s definitely a bit harsher on insiders.”

He continued, “We have to pass a number of tests to make people within the industry and otherwise believe that we are here because of our own talent.

The audience doesn’t want to see these biases. They only want to get entertained.”

Reflecting on his struggles with acting and securing roles, Tusshar credited the low points in his career. He expressed gratitude for these moments, as they helped him grow and reach where he is today.

“That cycle has to be there, it’s a part of your journey which helps you grow. You just become stronger to do more work. If you can’t handle the ups and downs, then this field is not for you”, he said.

Tusshar Kapoor’s latest series, Dus June Kii Raat, is a comedy-thriller starring Priyanka Chahar Choudhary. Directed by Tabrez Khan, the second chapter of the series is currently streaming on JioCinema.
