In a message on social media, Zeeshan Siddique, a Congress MLA and the son of the late NCP leader Baba Siddique, mentioned that individuals responsible for the murder of his father are now targeting him. Despite this threat, he asserted that he refuses to be intimidated. The assassination of Baba Siddique occurred on October 12, carried out by three assailants purportedly associated with incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

Zeeshan Siddique voiced on X platform, stating, “My father may have been silenced, yet they overlook his lionhearted spirit that resonates within me, his relentless fight coursing through my veins. He championed justice, advocated for transformation, and braved the tempests with resolute bravery.

In what appears to be a direct challenge to the reputed Lawrence Bishnoi gang, believed to be responsible for the assassination of his father, Zeeshan boldly declares, “As they believe they have prevailed by targeting my father, they now set their sights on me. To them, I assert: The blood of a lion courses through my veins. I remain steadfast and undaunted. While they may have taken one, I shall rise in his stead. The battle is nowhere near its end. Today, I stand in his place: VIBRANT, RESOLUTE, and PREPARED. To the residents of Vandre East, I remain by your side (sic).

The reason for the murder of Baba Siddique remains unclear, but the apprehended shooter claimed that the NCP leader had affiliations with Dawood Ibrahim and was perceived as a negative figure.

Zeeshan Siddique, an esteemed figure within the Indian National Congress in Maharashtra, holds membership and a significant leadership role within the party. Presently, he represents the Bandra East assembly constituency as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).

In 2019, the 34-year-old Congress leader ran for the Maharashtra elections for the first time and secured a win from the Bandra East constituency in Mumbai. He outpaced the Shiv Sena opponent by 5,790 votes. Interestingly, his father Baba Siddique, a three-time MLA, had previously held the same seat.

During the height of the Covid-19 crisis in 2021, the Bombay High Court initiated an investigation into Zeeshan Siddique and actor Sonu Sood regarding their suspected involvement in the unauthorized dissemination of vital antiviral medication Remdesivir.

Siddique has successfully obtained his Master’s Degree from Regent’s University London in the United Kingdom. In addition to serving as the current MLA from Bandra East, he holds the position of President of the Mumbai Youth Congress.

ANI reported that a suspect involved in Baba Siddique’s homicide disclosed that Zeeshan was among the individuals targeted by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The revelation came to light after a photograph of Zeeshan was found on the mobile phone of one of the accused, indicating his status as a possible mark for the criminal organization.
